Votes by hunger, misery democracy.

The presidential re-election is another political goal of "Bolivarians". Now it's the turn of Daniel Ortega, president of Nicaragua, to remove the hidden agenda to perpetuate itself in power, it has been doing Hugo Chávez, are slowly making members of the Alba and Petrocaribe, group select “great statesmen".

Democracy is only a system of political choice, where the majority is imposed on the minority, 51% about 49%, democracy is not a system of rule of law, and therefore democracy as such is not a guarantee of success as a system of government of a nation. The rule of law is the guarantee that the majority should not abuse the minority. I do not risk it compare to the democracy of the United States of America and the presidential re-election, with the rest of the continent, perhaps the exception is Chile and Costa Rica. The fragility of the poor Central American countries is worthy of any caricature. Populist politicians of right and left know it is easy to handle democracy -or voting in elections- poverty used as a tool.

How do they do? For politicians in Guatemala should not be poverty eradication, is the best argument in an election campaign and the best argument to govern. With the poor people have the human lower rate, always needed, easy to use, low self esteem, every miserable is a vote. “Social cohesion” is a current government program; the director is the wife of President Colom, now there is talk of politics to be promoting the image of first lady as future presidential candidate of the governing party. The program of “Social cohesion” is "reaching the poorest," a phrase of the government is "The government of the poor." It seems incredible that tapping social advocates walks doors in poor neighborhoods for Cash Q300.00 per family - $ 37 - or some variation between cash and groceries, so they can receive each month are entered in the social program. This will cause dependence, after a couple of months as part of the family budget. But in exchange of what? They organized a number of families under a "social leader" of the program, to be politically mobilized by the government for future elections. And they can be easily recruited and mobilized for use in protest to the government unconditionally, if they refuse will be removed from the "state aid". Votes by hunger are a democracy under constant extortion. With a broad-based policy for the poor, the next step is to seek reelection with the support of “the people." Poverty is of public interest, should be encouraged.
